Fibrelite covers are installed by all branches of the UK and US armed forces
Fibrelite’s lightweight FRP GRP composite trench and manhole covers are fast usurping metal and concrete covers to become the standard for high-performance industries like military and defense defence where performance and safe manual handling are critical. Fibrelite covers are typically 65% lighter than traditional cast iron and reinforced concrete covers, eliminating the need for costly specialized specialised lifting equipment and the accompanying health and safety hazards, even up to 90 ton at D400, E600 and F900 load ratings. Independent wet and dry tests carried out by Devon CC Materials Laboratory showed that Fibrelite manhole and trench covers – even when wet – have anti-slip/skid properties far exceeding health and safety advisory limits.
Designed as a fit-and-forget product, our FRP GRP composite trench and manhole covers are maintenance-free, durable and extremely strong. Unlike metal and concrete infill covers, Fibrelite covers are engineered from a FRP GRP composite material which is inert and impervious to corrosion from water and salt, as well as many other corrosive compounds.
In many instances where Fibrelite trench and manhole covers are adopted, companies choose to specify a bespoke option, custom-manufactured to specific requirements including size, color, colour, load rating, fittings (e.g. securing systems) and molded moulded identification of below-ground services. Fibrelite has also undertaken projects where they have designed and manufactured retrofit replacements for previously installed heavy concrete or metal trench and manhole covers.
